New PL Season Fan Expectations: Arsenal II

The new season for every arsenal fan comes with a lot of optimism and hope, every fan has an optimism but for arsenal fans it’s a bit heightened because they always start the season well, crash in between then find a way to inject optimism.

After a terrible start to last season with Unai Emery, a not so encouraging run with Fredrik Ljungberg, the new manager, Mikel Arteta, has injected a lot of vibe and synergy into the squad. Arsenal is currently undergoing a lot of restructuring involving the dismissal of top personnel like Francis Cagigao and Raul Sanlehhi, it is obvious that a lot of changes are coming especially with the appointment of renowned lawyer Tim Lewis. These changes now leave Director of Football, Edu and Head Coach, Mikel Arteta at the elms of affairs in terms of transfers and recruitment of backroom staff, a lot of which has joined in recent times.

However, for the new season Arsenal are still lacking a lot in the midfield department, an area where they suffered a lot last season. Taking the team apart from scratch. The Goalkeeper role is very sorted for Arsenal as Bernd Leno and Emiliano Martinez have shown they are very capable, however, the future of the latter is hanging as Arsenal needs to free up space in the squad for funds and also for the presence of a lot of foreign players. In defence, players like Sokratis and Saed Kolasinac are on exit route as the inclusion of New signings Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba will add much confidence to the feeble backline. The midfield is still thin as Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendozi are supposedly on the way out, Arteta needs to buy Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey to at least have width and balance for a jam-packed season ahead. The addition of Willian to the already blazing attack is a really good addition due to his versatility.
Without the addition of Aouar and Partey, I’m afraid Arsenal are in for another mediocre season as their rivals especially Chelsea and Wolves have really fortified their Squads for the season, teams like Everton are hoping to gun for a European side too.

Prediction for top 6 (if Aouar and Partey signs for Arsenal)
Man City
Liverpool (if they don’t sign Thiago)
Chelsea
Arsenal
Man United
Wolves
