Gameweek Nine Preview

Club football finally returns, it’s been a long two weeks. Three teams are still unbeaten after eight games, another three are yet to win a game, the rest are trying to gain points from wherever possible. This Gameweek has so many juicy games and I’ll preview all ten as you read on.

Chelsea vs Manchester United (Saturday, 12:30pm).
We restart with a banger! United go into this game on the back of that comeback win against Newcastle, but can’t afford to go two goals down away from home against Chelsea after just ten minutes, it will end up being a mauling. Mourinho will have to find a way to stop Hazard and also reduce the influence of Jorginho in the Chelsea system of play. I don’t expect United to play elaborately, Chelsea could overwhelm them. This game always being a classic and I expect no less from this one.
Prediction: Chelsea to win 2-0. (Pedro to Score).

Bournemouth vs Southampton (Saturday, 3pm).
A local derby! About Bournemouth, if you go to Watford and win by four goals, you will think there’s absolutely nothing you need to change about your team but I don’t fully trust them, they’ve got beaten by four goals against Burnley too. They are just very hard to predict, still I’m siding them against the Saints who are also difficult to talk about. I’ve noticed that most times, when it comes to a derby, the form of both teams don’t really count, so Southampton could give the Cherries a game.
Prediction: Bournemouth to win 3-1. (Josh King to score).

Cardiff City vs Fulham (Saturday, 3pm).
If Cardiff do not pick point(s) from then they really should start thinking of their championship games next season. Fulham won’t even make it a comfortable afternoon for the blue birds, Fulham themselves have to pick points from here. Cardiff have to score goals to win games, Fulham have to stop shipping in goals. This should be fun to watch.
Prediction: Fulham win 3-1. (Mitrovic to score).

Manchester City vs Burnley (Saturday, 3pm).
Burnley will have to do a lot to get a point in this game. Manchester City had key players like Aguero and David silva rested over the break and they also have Kevin De Bryune returning, this should be simple and straightforward. Pep and his will want to forget the Liverpool game quickly especially with the fact that they could have won late on with the penalty. We are seeing shades of Burnley of last season but I think they will be beaten by City.
Prediction: City to win 3-0. (Aguero to score).

Newcastle United vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm).
Rafa Benitez and Newcastle will be gutted by their loss last time out, they had Man United in knots in the first half and should have seen the game out to the end. If they use that energy for every game, their league position will be very much different. Brighton are not easy to predict especially away from home, but they could compound Newcastle’s problems. Newcastle haven’t won any of their 4 home games this season and they won’t be comfortable with that. I’m backing them win their first game of the season.
Prediction: Newcastle to win 2-1. (Ayoze Perez to score).

WestHam United vs Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 3pm).
A London derby that has always served. Both teams have to play for the three points, WestHam showed promise against Manchester United and then went to Brighton and got beaten, they have to fight for the points here in their London Stadium. Spurs will be boosted with Eriksen’s return, they’ve missed him. They are really not getting the goals they normally get especially from Harry Kane and it feels like Lucas Moura has dried up since his double at Old Trafford. This should be a cracker.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw. (Harry Kane to score).

Wolves vs Watford (Saturday, 3pm).
Football is about consistency, that’s what Wolves are about, in fact they have used the same starting 11 lineup in all their eight premier league games this season, a league record. The defence and goalkeeper have been rock solid which has given them a platform to build on, they find themselves five points from the top of the table. Watford’s early season surprise has disappeared now, they’ve picked up only a point in their last four games while they picked maximum points in their first four games. The match against Wolves is a tough one and I think they will struggle to against them.
Prediction: Wolves to win 1-0. (Costa to score).

Huddersfield vs Liverpool (Saturday, 5:30pm).
Two best friends face each other again. The last two meetings between them both ended in despair for David Wanger and Huddersfield, they conceded six goals and scored nothing, I’ll be surprised to see it the result changes this time around. Liverpool have bad injury problems to key players, Salah, Mane, Van Dijk, Keita amongst others are in the treatment room. Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge and Shaqiri waiting in wings and on their day, both of them can run riots against any opposition.
Prediction: Liverpool win 4-1. (Firmino to score).

Everton vs Crystal Palace (Sunday, 4pm).
Marco Silva is starting to get the best out of Sirgudsson, this in addition to Bernard on the left wing which push Richarlison further forward to the Striker’s position is starting to pay dividends. Although this is at the detriment of Tousn who now has to manage a bench/supersub role. Palace might be sucked into a relegation battle if they don’t start earning points quickly and they will need to keep Zaha fit for that job. Silva lost both games he managed against Palace with Hull and also Watford but I think he’ll get it right this time.
Prediction: Everton to win 3-1. (Walcott to score).

Arsenal vs Leicester City (Monday, 8pm).
Six premier league wins in a row and Arsenal are absolutely flying. The AubaLaca link has been very good and it feels like Arsenal of old times. Emery’s work on the team is evident as Ramsey’s goal against Fulham showed. The face Leicester that they always beat at the Emirates, you can almost say that it’s going to 7/7 but this is the premier league and we have to expect anything. Leicester is a team that you are not sure the side of them that will turn up, they could very good one week and then be very poor the other, regardless, I think Arsenal will beat them again.
Prediction: Arsenal to win 3-1. (Vardy to score).
