Gameweek Seven Preview

The Premier League returns and continues after a raft of midweek Carabao cup games that have seen top PL teams eliminated at just the third round. It brings a somewhat new perspective to the league for those teams and in the 10 games this week that I’ll preview as you read on.

WestHam vs Manchester United (Saturday, 12:30pm).
It’s more about what’s going on off-field than the football they play for Man United. They couldn’t have begged for a worse week, from drawing with Wolves at Old Trafford to losing to Derby in the League cup again at Old Trafford to the Mourinho-Pogba issue (I have an interesting view about this but not here to discuss).

Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba
Mourinho and Pogba have to put aside their frosty relationship to produce more moments like this for Manchester United

Nevertheless, Man United have to put aside all these issues, play well and deliver 3 points against a WestHam team slowly finding form and also beginning to look like a formidable team. Man United have it all to do. If Lukaku starts, I expect him to score as he has scored in all United away games this season and he has a decent record against the Hammers but his goal(s) might not be enough to win it.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw (Lukaku to score).

Arsenal vs Watford (Saturday, 3pm).
Playing against Watford will be a sort of test for Arsenal because of how the Hornets set up each game. Watford will really be disheartened by their penalty loss against Spurs midweek but have to prepare even harder for Arsenal, they will be happy that Center Half Christian Kabesele had his red card rescinded and will be available to play. Arsenal are on a roll now, the gunners are firing well, the link between Lacazette and Aubamenyang is great, Petr Cech was superb last week and even Ramsey’s contract issues shouldn’t stop them now. This will be a game to watch. Watford might huff and puff but Arsenal should get the win.
Prediction: Arsenal win 2-1 (Deeney to Score).

Everton vs Fulham (Saturday, 3pm).
This is somehow a must win for Marco Silva and the Toffees. They started the season a bit decently but it’s all gone. There should be goals in this game because both defences are erratic. Fulham have conceded 13 goals already this season while Marco Silva has conceded 91 goals since he arrived in England as a Manager in 2017. Everton have to deal with League top goal Scorer Mitrovic and Fulham also have to deal with Hot boy Richarlison. Open game of football and I think Everton will score more goals.
Prediction: Everton win 3-2 (Richarlison to score).

Richarlison
Richarlison is central to Everton’s attack and Marco silva says he can play as a striker.

Huddersfield vs Tottenham (Saturday, 3pm).
Spurs are picking themselves up again slowly after that run of three winless games. They will be happy to face Huddersfield that is yet to score at home this season let alone win any. Christian Eriksen has said he is not available for this game, it opens door for Alli who had a heroic welcome in the MK stadium midweek to come back into the side for the league game. Straight forward match but Spurs will be weary of the champions league game coming up.
Prediction: Spurs win 3-0 (Moura to Score).

Manchester City vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm).
It will be the upset of upsets if Brighton even gets a point at the Etihad. Every player is scoring for Man City now even the ones coming from the bench. It feels like for every City game against bottom half team at home the only uncertainty is how many goals city will score, I have that problem now but I’ll be modest. City have to keep an eye on the Champions League match because they already lost the first one but that shouldn’t stop them against Brighton.
Prediction: City to win 3-0 (Aguero to Score).

Newcastle vs Leicester City (Saturday, 3pm).
This Leicester team are funny to me, you don’t even know which type of Leicester you are about to watch. There’s the type that got thrashed by Bournemouth one week, there’s the type that dismantled Huddersfield just the next week after. Whichever type they choose to be this week, Newcastle will pose a threat to them, Benitez have to take his team on a roll now because their horrific fixture list is over at least for now and they have to pick up points quickly.

James Maddison is looking like a fine player and the England Coach Gareth Southgate will be on the look out

Leicester’s Maddison is a becoming a sensation and everything they do attacking wise has something to do with him and I must mention his Free Kick goal from last week is worth another watch. Both team should go for it really and could share the spoils as well.
Prediction: 2-2 Draw (Yedlin to Score).

Wolves vs Southampton (Saturday, 3pm).
Saints will do well to pull off 3 points at Molineux that Wolves have turned to a fortress. Wolves outplayed United at Old Trafford and I expect them to win this. They play with class and the fact that they are yet to change their starting 11 for the first six weeks shows faith from the Manager. Southampton were ripped off by Liverpool last week but they will much closer this week as Danny Ings returns for them. This also will be a good game to watch and I think Wolves will win.
Prediction: Wolves win 2-1 (Raul Jimenez to Score).

Chelsea vs Liverpool (Saturday, 5:30pm).
Let’s start from where they stopped on Wednesday in the Carabao cup and I’ll say, “What a goal by Eden Hazard.” That was a special goal indeed but that was in the league cup while they face off in the league this time. This match will do a lot of things to the league table and morale of both teams and the mood of the top challengers for the title. Liverpool will have Salah, Mane and Firmino returning. Chelsea will also have rested players returning and will also have the comfort of Stamford Bridge. The European games next will be on their minds but the battle for league supremacy is all to play for here. Chelsea dropped points last week and can’t avoid more slip ups in this race. If Chelsea wins and Man City beats their opponents, Liverpool will drop down to third, the title race becomes even more interesting. I think Chelsea might win this but I’ll go for a draw here because of my quest to be modest.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw. (Hazard to score).

Cardiff vs Burnley (Sunday, 4pm).
The European games have made this the only game on Sunday but I’m sure it will deliver. I watched Burnley against Bournemouth last week and I was shocked, Burnley picked up the Cherries and picked them apart! It felt like the last season Burnley and more but they lost in the midweek to Burton, so I’m still a bit skeptical about their resurgence. Cardiff looks like they are going straight back to the Championship and they will have to be strong against Burnley. Tough match but Burnley for the win.
Prediction: Burnley win 2-1 (Barnes to score).

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace (Monday, 8pm).
Bournemouth were handed a bag of surprises last week, terrible terrible game for them. Moving forward, they are back at home against Palace. I’m wondering if Ryan Fraser will keep his place now that Junior Stanislas is back from injury plus he scored midweek but that’s up to Eddie Howe. Palace are also a team full of surprises but I think they will turn up for this game only that Bournemouth at home is another team totally.
Prediction: Bournemouth win 3-2 (Callum Wilson to score).
