Gameweek Six Preview

This Gameweek in the Premier League brings us a set of games after the first European (UCL and Europa League) matches this season. Man City and Spurs were beaten while Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea all won their respective matches. Let’s see if any of them would suffer an European hangover during this Gameweek that I will Preview as you keep reading.

Fulham vs Watford (Saturday, 12:30pm).
A London derby to get us started! It’s easy to see Watford getting back to winning ways after their first loss of the season last week but Fulham are not exactly pushovers even though Man City rolled them over last week.

Fulham vs Watford
Fulham will be looking to regroup and get back to winning ways against High flyers Watford.

The way Fulham play with lots of passing, wing play and attacking could just be perfect for Watford’s direct style to counter. Watford don’t want to be seen as the early season fluke team and Fulham could draw extra strength from the home crowd. I think this match might have goals but I think it will not produce any winner.
Prediction: 2-2 (Mitrovic to Score).

Burnley vs Bournemouth (Saturday, 3pm).
What a start to the season for the Cherries; (their best ever start to a premier league season). I saw their game against Leicester and for me, they were all over the foxes but Burnley at Turf moor would be a different match totally. This match is a must win for Burnley, they’ve not gotten that level of organisation in both attack and defence that helped them to a seventh place finish last season. This is surely a big game for them and Sean Dyche must find a way of stopping Bournemouth scoring goals while they score themselves.
Prediction: Bournemouth win 2-1. (Callum Wilson to score).

Cardiff vs Manchester City (Saturday, 3pm).
The champions go to Wales after losing at home while their manager watched from the stands. He will be on the touchline for this one against the team that gave them lots of trouble in the FA cup last season I’m convinced this season is different. As much as I feel City will win this comfortablely, I also expect Cardiff to challenge City from their usual set piece threats but at the end, Man City’s quality could make this match straightforward and pick up a routine win.
Predictions: City win 3-0. (B.Silva to score, if he starts).

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace
Dumment and Newcastle have to pick themselves up from here for there next run of favourable fixtures.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle (Saturday, 3pm).
Both teams are having awkward seasons. Palace haven’t played so well but they have six points already while Newcastle has played considerably well in games but to generate points from playing Spurs, Chelsea, City and Arsenal is a tough ask (they lost those four games with the same scoreline; 2-1). That run of games is over now and Rafa Benitez has a chance to start afresh even amidst their off field problems. Palace will have to do better than last week even though they won and I also agree that Zaha needs more protection from referees as well as other tricksters. I would probably say Newcastle should win but Palace could turn it on so I’ll settle for a draw.
Prediction: 1-1 (Joselu to score).

Leicester vs Huddersfield (Saturday, 3pm).
Leicester were very disappointing last week, I saw the game and I felt they could have been more embarrassed, the two late goals they scored made the scoreline less disgraceful but they couldn’t live with Bournemouth. Claude Puel has not exactly been a “favourite” in the club and results like that are really damaging. He and his team have to turn it around against Huddersfield and get 3 points. Huddersfield are looking like they will go down by May, they are not scoring goals and you can’t win by not scoring. Leicester will have their Captain suspended for the game but this should be a match to watch.
Prediction: Leicester win 2-0 (Vardy to score).

Liverpool vs Southampton (Saturday, 3pm).
The only uncertainty here for me is the number of goals Liverpool will score. That’s not to say that I’m not expecting an upset or to say Liverpool have no weakness in their squad but Liverpool are playing their best football and the way the played and dominated PSG on Tuesday is a testament to that, even though they need a one eyed winner at the death but it was fully deserved.

Danny Ings will be unavailable for Southampton for this match because he will ineligible to face his parent club.

Southampton blew a two goal lead last week in a dramatic derby and with that attitude it’s hard to stop Liverpool but the Manager has come out to say they have a plan. I hope the plan is solid enough because for me I think Liverpool will win to record their first 18 points from 6 games in the Premier league regardless.
Prediction: Liverpool win 3-0 (Mo Salah to score).

Manchester United vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm).
United are showing signs of recovery after their early season set back, it’s now three back to back wins for them which have all come away from home. They return to Old Trafford, the stage of their last defeat against Wolves who Jose Mourinho himself says will have a stable season. Wolves tormented Burnley with their passing and possession play but they could only score a goal (it should have been more). United are changing their style of playing gradually and are working on set-peices too, with time and consistency we could see a different Jose Mourinho team and they have so many quality players in the squad to achieve big things. I think for this game both teams will have their spell but Jose will get the win over one of this former boys.
Prediction: United win 3-1 (Sanchez to score).

Paul Pogba was influential in Man United’s win in midweek. He can as well lead United to another Victory

Brighton vs Tottenham (Saturday, 5:30pm)
Spurs are finding it hard to win at the moment, beating United at Old Trafford some weeks ago now seems like distant memory. They are playing well but the right results are not coming and Poch have had to defend this team with weird comparisons in this press conference time and time again. Eriksen is yet to score this season, Kane isn’t firing like normal yet, Alli hasn’t gotten up to speed, Lloris is still out injured plus his drink-drive case, Son is back from the asian games, it just looks like they are in sixes and sevens. Brighton played till the last minute on Monday to earn themselves a point against Southampton like they did against Fulham but Spurs could find their cutting edge this weekend and might not let them have their way. Tough game and I’m inclined to go with a draw but I also think Spurs might just get it right.
Prediction: Spurs to win 2-1 (Son to score).

WestHam vs Chelsea (Sunday, 1:30pm).
Another London derby! WestHam finally got a deserved 3 points last week, with they way they’ve played all season, they probably deserve more than 3 points after  five matches.  After that victory, it would have been nice not to face a team with Chelsea’s type of quality and confidence but here they are. WestHam will try and exploit tiredness from the Chelsea’s Thursday travel to Greece but Chelsea had the likes of Hazard, Giroud rested. Tough match for the hammers.
Prediction: Chelsea win 3-1 (Giroud to score).

Arsenal vs Everton (Sunday, 4pm).

Lucas Torreira Arsenal
I’m expecting Lucas Torreira to have his first premier league start of the season against Everton.

Marco Silva’s Everton have gone a bit down now after a decent start to the season. Their loss at home last week was disappointing and Silva has to find a way of getting out of this incoming mess. He will be boosted with the return of Richarlison and also Yerry Mina returning to training but Arsenal are on a roll now, picking up points from everywhere possible. Arsenal still lack a bit of coordination when defending and Everton will want to pick them off on the counter but Arsenal’s pace and craftiness in Attack will bail them out. I just wonder when Emery will decide to start Torreira  in midfield and Leno in goal in the Premier League.
Prediction: Arsenal win 3-1 (Lacazette to score).
