Your Gameweek 33+ Guide

The Premier League comes to a conclusion this month and we have six games to go. It’s a case of when the going gets tough the tough get going as Premier League clubs set themselves to play these six games in the space of twenty-three days. First up is the gameweek 33+ and I’ll be previewing it very quickly.

Norwich vs Brighton.

It’s win or bust for Norwich at this stage. They almost don’t have any chance of survival. Their defensive solidity didn’t match their hunger in front of goal, and you can’t afford that in the Premier League. I don’t think Brighton will be too disheartened about their last result against the in-form Man United. They have to pick themselves up to ensure they confirm their Premier League status for next season. The seagulls should know there’s still work to do to stay up. It’s never easy especially for the bottom club like Norwich but I don’t think they will want to go down without a fight, so Brighton has to put in the work as well. Prediction: Brighton wins (2-1).

Leicester City vs Crystal Palace

The break has not done any favours for Leicester City, and you’ll have to wonder about where things went wrong. Goals aren’t forthcoming any longer, the swagger to which they played earlier in the season has disappeared as well. They have to arrest this slump as they are in danger of missing out on the Champions League. The way it seems now, Leicester has a tough run-in of fixtures, and I think they will need to fix up their form before it’s too late. I like what Roy Hodgson has done with Palace and I think they will also present all sort of problems for the Foxes in this game. I will not be too surprised if they get a result as well. Prediction: Draw (1-1).

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Man United have managed to cut the gap between themselves and third place to three points. Much has been said about the Bruno, Pogba combination and I think it’s doing them so many favours as expected. They have the momentum, and I think it will be a comfortable home win. Bournemouth was absolutely shattered against Newcastle, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the fight against relegation. I think their aim for this game will be to not concede as many goals as they are so good in gifting chances to opposition teams. They have to set up barricades for this one. Prediction: Man United win 3-0.

Wolves vs Arsenal

Wolves are another team that has done well since the restart winning all their games in the process. The team seems very balanced and are very dangerous on the field of play. As a unit, I think they are difficult to play. They have done well to cut the gap as well to just three points from third place, and I don’t think saying they can make the top four is fine unrealistic. Arsenal took a big win last game and they have to recreate that sort of performance to get anything from this game. They still have to give themselves a chance to make it for European football next season and can’t afford to drop more points here. It’s going to be a tough game and a very good match to watch. Prediction: Wolves win 2-1.

Chelsea vs Watford

Chelsea could be in the sixth position by the time the kick of this match (If Man United and Wolves win), and that’s pressure. A win takes them back to fourth, perhaps third. It will be a big test of their mettle. Frank Lampard has done a good job considering their situation starting the season but they have to work on their defensive frailties especially set plays as it’s costing them goals. Watford will come here hoping to get a result. They need to fight more points as they try to secure safety. They’ve been flat since the restart, and they would be doing themselves no favours if they don’t start gaining points. Tough game but I think Chelsea will get the job done. Prediction: Chelsea wins 2-1.

Burnley vs Sheffield United

It was the Sheffield we knew before lockdown that turned up against Thursday when they beat Spurs at home. They’ve lost a bit of a gap for the UCL pursuit but they can still make it for the Europa League. Burnley is one of their rivals who will also be having dreams of playing in Europe next year. Tough and Solid defending has been the bedrock for Burnley’s league position and the same could be same for Sheffield United. I think it will be an interesting game to watch, and I think they’ll cancel each other out. Prediction: Draw (0-0)

Newcastle United vs Westham United

Both teams enjoyed big wins last time out. Westham dug themselves out a hole against Chelsea even with the VAR error. They will need that sort of spirit and resilience if they want to stay up. They have so many good players and you’ll wonder how they got themselves into a relegation struggle in the first place. Newcastle is playing with more confidence now and getting more dangerous. Allan Saint-Maximin has put in eye-catching performances and has improved them big time. Westham know they have to get points here, and they to work hard to get them, but I don’t think Newcastle will just lie down and let them. Prediction: Newcastle wins 1-0.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa

I’m not too sure what the problem was for Liverpool against Man City but losing 4-0 at the back of a title triumph is bad. I don’t think they were that bad in the game, City was simply unplayable. The game against Villa will be a chance to redeem themselves, and if the Liverpool we all know comes out here, it will be a beat down for Aston Villa. Dean Smith has to come up with something here as they go further downwards weekly. Who knows what may happen, they might just catch Liverpool on another off-colour day. Prediction: Liverpool wins 3-0.

Southampton vs Manchester City.

It’s hard to see past anything but a Man City win here if their performance against Liverpool is anything to go by. It was the total package. They showed exactly how ready they are to put up a fight for the title next season. They have the perfect blend of players and in the good ages as well. Southampton has done well since the restart, and have benefited from the in-form Danny Ings who has eighteen goals already this season. They will need more of his goals and a super performance to get something from this game, but I think City will be too much for them. Prediction: Man City to win 4-1.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton.

Spurs will feel undone by that VAR decision that could have easily made things different in their last match, but still, they were no match for Sheffield in that game. It’s strange about the Tottenham team, they don’t look as dangerous as normal, the defence is not as strong, and Harry Kane doesn’t look like he’s enjoying himself as usual. Jose Mourinho has to figure all these out by the time next season comes, but however, have to close this season as strongly as they can. Everton is another team that has done well since the restart, they should have beaten Liverpool, and the win against Leicester will add to their confidence. I think they’ll get something out of this game, and it’s a testament to the work Carlo Ancelotti has done since coming in. Prediction 2-2 Draw.
